Lavender essential oil remains a popular necessity item in any household. For centuries this unique essential oils has been used in aromatherapy and in the production of perfumes due to its delicate floral fragrance. Obtained through a process of steaming and distillation of the lavender buds, lavender oil is also known for its medicinal properties.

The soothing scent of lavender is most commonly used to combat stress and headaches when used in an oil burner or when added to a warm bath. It is also a great way to induce a natural sleep for those suffering sleepless nights. Experts advise that massaging a small amount of oil into the soles of the feet is the most effective way to relax the body for a peaceful night’s sleep.

When massaged regularly into the skin, this oil is proven to provide gentle relief from muscle aches and pains. Lavender essential oil is also a handy for use of burns. It significantly reduces pain and prevents blistering. Lavender or Lavare to give the Latin name meaning ‘to wash’ is added to many face and body washes due to its famous fragrance and its natural antiseptic qualities. Lavender essential oil is perfect for treating spots but can be just as good as a cleanser for the hair. Knotty or tangled hair can be a thing of the past with a few drops of oil added to a mild shampoo. It can even stimulate hair growth when massaged into the scalp.

The antiseptic qualities of lavender essential oils not only make it a great cleanser for the skin but also for the home. Diluted lavender oil makes a superb surface cleaner for counter tops and floors and as lavender is a natural insect repellent, it will help keep irritating insects and flies away. The oil can also be used on collars of dogs and cats to keep them free from fleas.
